Familiarity with the SL ligament complex is required to understand the various features of SL in … A needle was inserted into the right radioscaphoid joint. Iodinated contrast mixed with gadolinium was injected into the right radioscaphoid joint. The contrast extended into the mid carpal joints suggesting a disruption of the scapholunate ligament. The patient was then sent to MRI. Scapholunate dissociation (SLD) is a form of carpal instability, caused by rupture of the scapholunate ligament (SLL) the secondary stabiliser of the scapholunate (SL) compartment. SLD can cause osteoarthritis of the wrist. Recently a study was published that shows cineradiography to be an excellent … Scapholunate Advanced Collapse (SLAC wrist) is due to advanced injury of the scapholunate and volar radioscapholunate ligaments which may lead to rotatory subluxation of the scaphoid and scapholunate dissociation.

DOI: 10.1016/s0363-5023(10)80122-4 Abstract We report a retrospective review of seven patients with chronic scapholunate dissociation treated with attempted scapholunate arthrodesis. The scapholunate interval is the radiographic measurement of the scapholunate joint on PA wrist projections.

SLD is one of the most common types of carpal instability. This paper describes a novel method in treatment of scapholunate dissociation accompanied with rotatory subluxation of the scaphoid. The idea of this method is to create a kind of axial lever that can fully reconstruct anatomical relationship between the scaphoid and the lunate, with no involvement of extrinsic ligaments, and with simultaneous restriction of pathological alignment of the scaphoid. Short description: Sprain carpal.
